The well-known 80-20 rule applies equally to fasteners. Only some of the costs are to do with the purchase price of the product. The biggest part is the hidden costs: the part of the iceberg that’s under water. As a major wholesaler, we have long been dedicated to reducing these hidden costs on behalf of our customers.
One logical step is to create an expertise group within our organization to focus entirely on this area. Therefore, this summer, we set up the new ‘Engineering & Supply Chain Consultancy’ department. The department now comprises five people and focuses on two important points: engineering and supply chain. Hence the name.
Supply Chain Consultancy helps to reduce the costs of storage, logistics and ordering. We offer a range of solutions that take the strain off our customers. These include automation, as well as process improvement or organizing the warehouse or production hall differently. The Supply Chain Consultancy department provides clear figures that immediately demonstrate how much a particular solution can deliver. The Purchasing department can thus make an immediate difference.
Engineering is a competent sparring partner for engineers who design machines and modules. The engineering department speaks their language and so makes our knowledge accessible in a logical way. Using the right fastener reduces your machine failures. And by already considering opportunities and availability at the design stage, you save a lot of money in the long term. Our engineering department can help you with this. For example, you can easily outsource part of the selection process.

Daniël de Graaf, mechanical engineer
Michel van Nieuwenhuizen, procurement, product & service manager
Robin Kuhlman, product manager
Amico Bonnet, quality control
Rob Koppes, supply chain management consultant
This new department enables us to paint a clearer picture of, and quantify, the advantages, disadvantages and possibilities that the services and products in our broad portfolio can bring. As such, the Engineering & Supply Chain Consultancy department serves as a direct consultation partner for other companies in the industry, and as a helpdesk and back-up for our own sales consultants. Our hope is that this will further increase our service levels.
